Foster Care Book: Chapter 3

Chapter 3 - Where Do We Go From Here?

Since society has allowed the moral and ethical thinking of the country to deteriorate to what we experience today, what do we do now? It is obvious that we cannot return the country to its once strong ethical and moral fiber overnight. It took more than 30 years to get to where we are. We cannot expect to turn it around overnight. My question is, "When are we going to start trying?"

Since the children are our future, the best we can do for them is to take them into a good family, show them how a family must operate in order to live and hope that enough rubs off so that we ’save’ a large majority of the kids. Will we be happy with our efforts? We probably will not. Will we make an impact? Probably, but we may never know. Will we keep trying? You bet! We who have dedicated ourselves to foster care have no choice. It takes a hard person to see what is happening to our children and be able to turn their back and ignore the problem.
